MEET THE TEAM
Kuria S Githinji is a retired primary school teacher after working for more than 36 years. He was a headteacher for over 27 years but always dreamed of farming and self-sustainability. He lives in Nairobi City on an acre of land where he practices organic farming for sustainable life, through drip irrigation on various types of crops, keeping chickens, goats, ducks and rabbits. Kuria feels that this has become rewarding psychologically, feeding his family and feeding others in the local village.
As a headteacher he was widely involved in British Council exchange programmes which connected his school to south African schools as well as schools in England. successfully hosting teachers and school leaders has been part of life since 2007.
Kuria holds a cert. Special educational needs Education, Degree (B, Ed.) Botany and Zoology and M.ed. in Psychology.
Scolastica Kariuki-Githinji (PhD) is an Educationalist with over 35 yrs experience in high school and University Education. Scolastica is based in Kenya, a senior lecturer in Educational Psychology. She finds delight in Teacher Education, and Disability Studies, ensuring teachers are inclusive in their classrooms. She is passionate about inclusive education, sustainability in families and schools for effective learning. She currently lectures and supports Kuria with enhancing sustainable living and learning projects.
Carl McCarthy is an educationalist with over 24 years experience as a headteacher, consultant and school inspector. Carl is based in London, UK and has been involved in successful global teacher exchange programmes with Kenya since 2007, receiving the Times educational Supplement international school of the year award in 2015. Carl is passionate about promoting sustainable lifestyles and supporting teachers with their well-being.
Mr Joseph Wanjohi is a distinguished professional with extensive experience in the construction industry, where he has successfully overseen a variety of projects across Kenya. His expertise extends to food and supply chain management, where he has streamlined operations to ensure efficiency and quality for diverse clients ensuring that he sources and supplies pure organic food ingredients.
His deep understanding of these industries allows him to deliver results that consistently meet and exceed client expectations.
In addition to his work in construction and supply chain management, Mr Joseph is a key player in Kenya's tourism sector. He provides premium transportation services, ensuring that guests experience seamless and comfortable journeys from major airports to Kenya's top conservancy sites, including Maasai Mara, Nanyuki, and The Great Mount Kenya. His commitment to excellence in all areas of his work has established him as a trusted and reliable figure in these fields.
Rose Muthoni Wanjohi is an accountant and a renowned Kenyan chef with a passion for creating authentic and dishes that showcase the rich culinary heritage of Kenya. With more than 25 years of experience in the industry, she has honed her skills in preparing both traditional Kenyan meals and modern fusion cuisine.
As the head chef at Rosal Catering Services, Rose takes pride in welcoming guests and providing them with an unforgettable dining experience. Whether preparing traditional Kenyan Cuisine, savoury 'nyama choma', or delicate vegetarian dishes, she ensures that each meal is crafted with fresh, locally sourced organic ingredients.
Her warm hospitality and dedication to culinary excellence have earned her a reputation as one of Kenya's finest chefs. When visiting Tio's Farm at Naromoru Nyeri county guests can look forward to not just a meal, but a culinary journey that reflects the vibrant culture and traditions of Kenya.
